Client: Bentley’s Grill
My Role: Research, Wireframing, Interface Design, Web Design, and User Testing
Project Time: 8 weeks
Bentley’s Grill is located in beautiful The Grand Hotel in Salem, Oregon. Their website was a full flash website which was not mobile friendly, or responsive. The SEO was also not effective and were ranked low on search engines. Also, the font was very hard to read, and the site was difficult to edit and update. They needed an entire website redesign, and updated SEO.
Bentley’s wanted the ability to make their own website edits and updates, as their menu changes on a daily basis. They also requested a way for users to make online reservations. I needed to make sure that both user and business requirements were met.
Bentley’s Grill requirements: a way for users to make an online reservation, view menus quickly, and see their contact information easily.
They also needed a way to make their own website edits to update their constantly changing menu, and sometimes add photos as well. They mentioned that they were familiar with WordPress’s CMS. After hearing that, WordPress seemed to be the best match.

QUICK LO-FI ITERATIONS
Lo-fi paper screens were drawn by hand to see what the first initial layout might look like.
Requirements were listed that were needed for each page.
User stories were created to meet each task and requirement.

Low - Fidelity Prototype
Wireframes were created for each page using the prep work done with low fiditelity paper screens.
A clickable prototype was created in InVision to get a feel of the flow and transitions of each screen.
User testing was done, and changes were made to improve usability.
HIGH FIDELITY DESIGNS · DETAILED PROTOTYPE · USER TESTING
High - Fidelity Screens
I designed high fidelity screens in Sketch.
A more polished prototype was created in InVision to get a feel of the screen transitions.
More user testing was done, and small changes were made.
After designs were approved, assets were handing off to the developer to build the live development site.
The New Website:
MOBILE FIRST, USER CENTERED DESIGN
The completed product was a beautiful responsive website with a custom coded WordPress content management system for easier editing ability. Each of the requirements were met including; adding online reservations capability, adding easy to find menu buttons and contact information, and optimization of site for search engines. The client was very pleased the final product, and keeping the project on budget.
The new website elevated their online presence and place them on page one on the search engine rankings. We will continue to review their site analytics and rework key words to organically help their SEO on an ongoing basis.
